The applicant will join the laser components R&D group which is part of the Laser sources and components business unit and will work within an international consortium in the frame of a European project H2020 FET-OPEN. The applicant will have the opportunity to develop transverse competences merging photonics, material engineering and quantic. A new generation of photonic devices based on quantum physics is hereby ambitioned and manipulation, miniaturisation and system integration are still a challenge to make possible public solutions.

In the context of this project, the applicant will be involved in the design, development, and functionalization of new fiber based components dedicated to the manipulation of atomic vapor trapped inside a hollow core fiber. The applicant will be also actively involved in the dissemination and communication related to this project. The main tasks of the applicant will be:

  • Simulation, design and inscription of Bragg Gratings in optical fibers using fs laser sources.
  • Optical characterisation of the inscribed components
  • Functionalisation of specialty fibers (PCF, HC).
  • To take part in the dissemination and communication strategy
  • Be in contact with the consortium

Profile and skills:

The applicant must have:

  • Ph. D. s in optics or material science with good knowledge in the field of laser/matter interaction.
  • Good relationship skills
  • Autonomy and dynamism, together with organization and precision
  • Good inclination for experimental work and lab work
  • Good written and spoken English
  • French is considered as a plus

Location: Bordeaux (University Campus) - FRANCE

Salary: Salary (gross annual): according to experience
Type of contract: Temporary 12 months
