ACTENA - the Association of Research and Technology Organizations in Nouvelle-Aquitaine

Founded in 2024, ACTENA, the Association of Research and Technology Organizations in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, was created out of a shared ambition to pool regional expertise, foster innovation, and support economic, technological, and societal transitions.


ACTENA brings together more than 25 Research and Technology Organizations (RTOs) across the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, each with diverse profiles and areas of expertise.

These organizations act as true bridges between academic research and industry, with a mission to transform scientific results into tangible solutions. They serve a wide range of sectors including health, environment, industry and digital technologies, construction, and more.

In short, RTOs contribute to the technological maturation of projects, the development of innovations, and the strengthening of the competitiveness of regional economic players.

What challenges does the creation of ACTENA address?


The creation of ACTENA aims to enhance coordination and collaboration within the research and innovation ecosystem in Nouvelle Aquitaine, through four main priorities:

Since its launch, ACTENA has already initiated several key milestones: 

  • The Constitutive General Assembly, the official founding meeting of the association, including the definition of its first orientations and executive board
  • The Launch Day, with the official presentation of the association and its roadmap in the presence of Alain Rousset, President of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and Gérard Blanchard, Vice-President
  • A networking day at IRT Saint-Exupéry, featuring presentations from each research and technology organizations and thematic workshops (HR, finance, development strategies...)
  • Participation in Viv'Industry in Bordeaux, the major event dedicated to Industry 4.0 and industrial performance, where ACTENA presented his role and ambitions to a wide audience

ACTENA is designed to be inclusive and unifying: each RTOs in Nouvelle-Aquitaine have the opportunity to join the association and contribute to defining its priorities.
