Virtual reality

The Immersive Photonics Lab is an innovative training tool that engages the learner in a virtual reality photonics lab. The immersive learning environment helps a participant master the professional and technical handiwork.

This virtual reality application faithfully reproduces physical phenomena and enables the effective development of procedural skills, whether in industrial or educational settings.

This tool emulates equipment needed to train professionals and students, anywhere, anytime, and without risk of injury. Innovative from both educational and technological standpoints, the Immersive Photonics Lab gives access to photonics equipment. It helps to disseminate training programs, with particular focus on tackling the shortage of skilled labor in the industry.

The Immersive Photonics Lab integrates numerous optical labs at University levels. Each lab is autonomous as a result of its different modes of use:

  • A beginner’s tutorial to introduce different optical elements;
  • A guided practical activity in «step-by-step» mode with different levels to develop procedural skills;
  • A «sandbox» mode to work freely
