Newskin - Advanced surface nanotechnologies
Creating an innovation ecosystem to accelerate industrial adoption of advanced surface nanotechnologies.
Project subject:
The European Newskin project aims to create an "Innovation Eco-system" to promote the transfer of "nano-enabled" technologies to the industrial sector.
This project revolves around 2 general objectives:
- Creation of an "Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB)": an innovation rig enabling the manufacture, characterization and validation of high-value "nano-enabled" products (steel, nano-textured polymers).
- Creation of an innovation ecosystem: The OITB will be a new legal entity providing European industry and its “Innovation Ecosystem (IE)” with the technologies, resources and services necessary to test and include them in production.
ALPhANOV’s role :
As part of this project, ALPhANOV is collaborating with various EI partners to establish an automatic and continuous pilot line allowing massive production of functionalized surfaces (antibacterial, super-hydrophobic, anti-fouling). All this is thanks to the development of femtosecond laser nano-texturing processes.
