Bloom Lasers: Transforming Industry with High-Power Fiber Lasers

Since its founding in 2007, ALPhANOV has acted as a true accelerator of technological innovation, supporting entrepreneurs in creating startups.

The center has supported over twenty startups, backed by a comprehensive innovation support system (SATT AST, incubators, and technology parks). Among its success stories, Bloom Lasers, led by Julien Saby, perfectly illustrates this dynamic.

From collaborative project to independent company

Bloom Lasers emerged from the collaborative project ALIENOR, developed by ALPhANOV to design an intelligent laser source for industrial applications. Launched in 2020 and funded by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, this project served as a springboard for the creation of the startup.

"This collaboration allowed Bloom to be created with a smooth transition, thanks to ALPhANOV's support during the initial structuring phases of the company", explains Julien Saby. After the project matured and yielded successful results, Bloom Lasers was officially founded in 2021, moving into its own facilities. Julien adds: "ALPhANOV hosted us in their offices until the company was created and provided expertise to support our development."

A recognized expertise

Bloom develops and manufactures robust, reliable industrial fiber lasers. These lasers offer multiple advantages: beam quality and stability, scalability, ease of use and maintenance, and low total cost of ownership.

The company also stands out for its environmental commitment: it works to extend the lifespan of its products through life cycle analyses and offers refurbishment solutions. All subcontractors are 100% local, ensuring more sustainable production.

Bloom's team, consisting of six experts, possesses advanced know-how in fiber lasers, UV generation, sales and marketing, quality, and industrial-scale manufacturing.

In 2023, Bloom was recognized at the i-Lab competition by BPI France, which supports the creation of innovative technology startups: "Being an i-Lab laureate was an important milestone in our structuring. It's a recognition of our technological expertise, teamwork, and international ambition."

Where the startup stands today?

The BPI grant allowed the startup to expand its product line, improving power, flexibility, and integration into production lines. Additionally, thanks to a first fundraising round in 2023, Bloom accelerated its international expansion and scaled its production capacity to meet growing demand.

Bloom has launched new products to enter new markets, including battery and semiconductor manufacturing. More recently, Bloom announced through its social media the inauguration of a joint laboratory named AIMROD, in collaboration with the XLIM laboratory in Limoges. This laboratory is dedicated to the study of extreme modal area fiber laser sources based on advanced materials.
